Which One Will Be Our Arch-Enemy?

They’re not lions, tigers, and bears. But which of the Bombers, Copperheads, and Marshals will make East Texas fans say, “Oh my!”

The area’s new baseball team will begin play on June 10, with the historic home opener scheduled for Thursday, June 12. During the season, the Brazos Valley Bombers, Coppell Copperheads, and McKinney Marshals will each make several visits to Kilgore’s Driller Park.

Team officials are asking fans, which opponent is going to become its biggest rival? Fans can visit the team’s web site and submit their votes to help us determine our new arch-enemy. When voting, consider these facts:

  • Brazos Valley – An expansion team in 2007, the Bombers made a good showing on the field with a 23-20 record. The organization also shattered league attendance records in its inaugural season. The general manager in Brazos Valley last year is now a partner and general manager for our new team in East Texas.
  • Coppell – The defending TCL champions, the Copperheads finished last season with the league’s best record (26-18) before cruising through the playoffs. Coppell is the only franchise to win two league titles, having also captured the crown in 2004, the TCL’s first season.
  • McKinney – The Marshals fell to the Copperheads in last year’s Championship Series after posting a 23-17 regular season record. McKinney, which has made the playoffs for four straight years, won the TCL championship in 2006.

So which opponent will inspire our players and incite our fans? Against which team will we see emotions run the highest? We’re asking you. Visit www.newbaseballteam.com and register your vote in the poll on the left side of the page. And don’t forget to register for the team’s newsletter to keep up to date on all the developments as we continue our countdown to Opening Day (105 days) and the historic home opener (107 days).
