Khris was a standout shortstop and pitcher at Carthage High School from 2005-2007. As a sophomore he hit .357 to help lead the team to the Class 3A state title. He improved as a junior, batting .372 with two homers and 21 RBI, for which he was named second-team all-region and first-team all-district. Khris’ biggest season, however, came his senior year of 2007. That season he hit .402, broke a school record with 10 circuit shots, and drove in 38 runners. He also stood out on the mound, going 5-0, 0.45 with 35 K’s in 32 innings. For his performance that year, Khris was named first-team all-state in Class 3A.

Khris moved on to play two years at Weatherford College for Coach Jeff Lightfoot. He went 8-5 with Weatherford, striking out 86 in 104.1 innings. In his best start of 2009, Khris went seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out 10 Cisco batters.

Khris only became a full-time pitcher in junior college, and he just completed a successful junior season at Nebraska, where he teamed with fellow Pump Jack Chase Adams. In the recent spring season Khris was 2-2 with a 4.99 ERA. He started six games and relieved nine times, and overall he struck out 24 batters in 30.2 innings.
