Biography:

Kyle will probably be one of the more-talked about and -scouted players on the 2010 Pump Jacks. After his senior year at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in Austin, the Washington Nationals selected him in the 39th round of the 2009 amateur draft. Kyle chose the college route, however, and went to his parents’ alma mater, Texas A&M.

At St. Michael’s, where he was coached by former major leaguer Calvin Schiraldi, Kyle lettered four years. He was named first-team all-district three times, all-state honorable mention in 2008 and first-team all-state in 2009. In the final regular-season game of his high-school career, Kyle pitched a complete game and hit the game-winning home run.

Kyle also won three letters in basketball at St. Michael’s, and in his senior year he was named first-team all-state as he led the team to the state semifinals.

At Texas A&M in 2010, Kyle pitched in five games. He showed flashes of his potential by striking out nine batters in 4.1 innings.
