Biography:

Chase might be very familiar to Pump Jacks fans. He graduated from nearby Mineola High School in 2007 and played the 2009 TCL season for the league champion Coppell Copperheads.

Chase just finished his first season at the University of Nebraska. He appeared in 17 games, starting one, and finished with a 3-1 record with a save March 20 at Texas. He struck out 22 batters in 26.2 innings.

Chase played his freshman and sophomore years at national powerhouse Howard College. During his two years the team was 111-11, and in 2009 the team went 63-1 en route to the NJCAA National Championship. Chase was 11-0 with a save in his two seasons with the Hawks. He had a 3.61 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 84.2 innings while walking just 29 batters.

Chase pitched four seasons at Mineola High for coach Ron Ihler. As a senior he was 12-2 with a 0.70 ERA and 133 strikeouts against just 12 walks. He threw eight complete games. Chase was honored as a first-team all-state selection by the Texas Sports Writers Association and second-team all-state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, and he was named the 15-3A MVP while leading Mineola to a No. 6 ranking in Class 3-A.
